A new pavilion and community space in Redesdale

Rochester Roundhouse, the latest collaboration between Kielder Art & Architecture and Newcastle University School of Architecture, is taking shape on the old Brigantium site in Rochester in the Redesdale valley.

This project is the third of the Testing Ground programme of architectural commissions that is enabling architecture students from Newcastle University to work with a range of communities and other user groups across the Park. The project has responded to community wishes to reuse the old unused and dilapidated 'Brigantium' visitor attraction to create a new facility that will create an external ampitheatre space from the old roundhouse's walls, and put in place a completely new pavilion close by that will provide a simple and elegant internal space for events and activities.
